Driving Innovation

We’ve been in the payments business for over 50 years, but the transition of Global Payments from a traditional merchant acquirer into a technology company began in 2012 when we entered the integrated payments space. Since that time, we have reinvented the business as a leading worldwide provider of payment technology and software solutions.

Our History

It all started with an idea. In 1967, George W. Thorpe, a retired Deputy Director of Intelligence with the US Air Force, conceived a plan to offer specialized data processing services. Launched as National Data Corporation (NDC) in Atlanta, the company quickly opened offices in three other U.S. cities.

Renamed Global Payments Inc. in 2000, we’ve continued our trajectory of growth and innovation. Today, Global Payments is a worldwide leader in payments technology and software solutions. From Atlanta to Shanghai and Sao Paolo to Dublin, we help businesses of all sizes leverage technology to thrive in a global economy.

Global Payments Europe

Our story begun in 1990 when a processor and national clearing centre for all Czech banks was founded under name MUZO. In 2014 respected company was acquired by Global Payments Inc. and rebranded to Global Payments Europe. Nine years later we delivered services for card issuers and merchant acquirers in 13 countries in Europe and Asia/Pacific. In 2018 we processed more than 1.3 billion transactions annually.
