Fraud Detection - Acquirer and Issuer Monitoring
These two services represent Global Payments Europe’s
contribution to card transaction safety.
Key Benefits
- Security
- Compliance with Visa&MasterCard requirements
- Near Time functionality
- Flexibility
- User control
Features List
Rule based system. As opposed to neural
network systems, rules based systems are more transparent
to users, and do not need a lead time required for neural
network’s learning phase.
User is provided with multiple level of control.
Acquirer rules may be set at the level of:
- Acquirer in general
- Merchant Category Code (MCC)
- Specific merchant
Issuer rules may be set at the level of:
- Whole issuer portfolio
- BIN
- Extended BIN – card number range
- Specific card
Service is available in near time or batch
mode depending on user’s preference.
Operators’ security. Each user’s
operator is given a unique ID, password, and set of access
rights. All operators’ actions are logged for possible
future audit process.
Reporting. Wide selection of reports is
available for all system functionalities.
How It Works
At implementation the user defines its requirements and operations
constraints. These are then used for selection between batch
or near time mode. With batch mode the user may receive alerts
by e-mail and set-up the detection rules by batch file or
GPE assistance. To improve the efficiency and user comfort,
installation of a Remote Access Terminal is highly recommended.
This terminal is connected to GPE fraud detection server and
enables both rules setting and alerts processing. Having installed
the necessary equipment, the user performs rules set-up, if
needed.
Rules are either selected from predefined list, or the user
may enter a new rule. Each rule is assigned a score weight,
which specifies the relative importance in the rule set. A
rule may be active at specific hours of day, days of the week,
or even at a different timeframe.
Operations
Authorization messages are passed from the front-end system
to the fraud detection system automatically in virtual real
time. Using appropriate rules set, each message is calculated
a score assessing the level of fraud risk associated with
that message. Should the level exceed predefined threshold,
this score is marked as ‘alert’ and stored in
alerts database. In near time mode this alert is immediately
sent to user’s Remote Access Terminals. In batch mode
the alerts are collected by the user at preferred intervals.
Remote Access Terminal provides the user with extensive functionality
in dealing with the alerts. Operators are provided with detailed
user documentation describing the system functions. Optional
training from GPE is also available.
FAQ
How many rules can be defined
in Monitoring Systems?
It does differ system to system, but for example in the Near
Time Issuer Monitoring System user can define up to 660 different
rules for each monitored BIN or for each card.
Do the Monitoring Systems meet
Payment Card Associations requirements?
Yes, all systems meet Payment Card Associations requirements
for Authorization Monitoring Systems.
Is there any special hardware
of software needs for Monitoring on client’s site?
No, systems work on PC and the application software is provided
by GPE.
